With a satisfied smile, Nabiki closed the door of the Tendou home behind her. What a profitable day this had been. Moreover, the weather was exceptionally fine - sunny with just enough clouds to give the occasional shadow and a light, fresh breeze that took the excess heat out of the sunrays. Her mood was so high that she had found herself almost skipping along, on her way home.

She'd better stock up on sun-lotion, she thought. A lot of people would stay out in the sun too long and be burned, so she'd have a solid market for it tomorrow.

She was just about to enter her room, when she heard someone speak her name. Ranma was standing behind her.

"Um, Nabiki. I just wanted to ask, could we, I mean could Akane an' me, could we borrow your walkman? We were going to the park an' I thought we could listen to some music or so."

"Sure," Nabiki smiled. She reached into her school bag and pulled out the device. She popped out the cassette that was still in it and handed the walkman over to Ranma.

He took it, thankfully, but somehow he seemed to wait for something. Nabiki kept herself from grinning. <He's waiting for the other shoe to drop,> she realized. "Well, off you go, then. Have fun, you two," she said to the astonished Ranma.

She turned and entered her room, still smiling to herself. Honestly, what did he think she was? Nabiki flipped over the cassette in her hand thoughtfully, then put it into the stereo. She heard her sister leave with her fiancé, when she set her bag down in the corner. Amazingly the two of them were not bickering. Not yet.

<Those two,> she thought as she half opened her window and looked after them, <If they ever realize how much they love each other, they might become dangerous. How lucky that they are just about as stupid and stubborn as a herd of mules. This way I can still make some money off them, occasionally.>

She grinned as she went over and plopped down on her bed, stretched and let out a languorous moan. Then she curled up with the manga she was reading, reached over to the remote control and started the stereo.

A Ranma ½ Songfic,

Girls Just Wanna Have Yen

(Sung to the tune of _Girls Just Wanna Have Fun_ by Cyndi Lauper.)

When I was young, many years ago,
my mother asked:
"Whatcha gonna do when you're grown?"
"Oh, Momma, I'll have made a fortune by then,
'cause Girls, they wanna have yen.
Oh, Girls just wanna have yen!"

I go collect, and it's time to pay.
My Daddy asks:
"Please, can you give me one more day."
"Oh, Daddy dear, you just pay back when you can,
but Girls, they wanna have yen.
Oh, Girls just wanna have yen!"

That's all I really want -
Some fun!
And what in the world is more fun than
raking in lots of yen?
Oh, Girls just wanna have yen!

Somebody dates a beautiful girl,
and thinks he can buy her love with presents and words.
I wanna be the one to milk dry those men.
Oh Girls, they wanna have yen.
Oh, Girls just wanna have yen!

That's all I really want -
Some fun!
And what in the world is more fun than
raking in lots of yen?
Oh, Girls just wanna have yen!

I just wanna-
I just wanna-
I just wanna-
I just wanna-
Girls just wanna have yen!

(I just wanna-)
(I just wanna-)
Oh, what in the world is more fun than
raking in lots of yen?
(I just wanna-)
Oh, Girls just wanna have yen!
(I just wanna-)
Oh, Girls just wanna have yen!
Girls just wanna have yen!
Yeah, Girls just wanna have yen!
